Innisfree’s Toy Story Collection: Unboxing & Review

Whilst browsing through Instagram, I came across an ad for the beauty/skincare brand innisfree. I’ve heard of innisfree before, but had never tried it. What really pushed me to click the ad was the limited edition collection that was being marketed to me. The ad was for the 2019 innisfree x Disney Toy Story Collection. Not only am I a huge Disney fan, but growing up Toy Story was one of my all-time favorites. Plus, I felt purchasing items from this collection was fitting, since I recently visited Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios. I clicked the ad and was pleasantly surprised at how affordable the products were. There is also a larger variety of product, which I didn’t expect.

It was hard to decide which items to purchase. Each product came in different scents, flavors and characters. I did have a price I was willing to spend total, but it was still difficult to choose just one of each. The packaging is whimsical and brings out your inner child. I decided to purchase items with differing character graphics. I bought the following products: the Volcanic Clusters Sheriff Set, My Lip Balm in Wedding Peach Tea, Hand Cream Set and My Makeup Cleanser Micellar Oil Water.

Volcanic Clusters Sheriff Set (Woody)

Can you handle how cute this packaging is?! This product is 1 of 2 limited edition tin sets (currently on backorder, join the waitlist here). The other tin set features a Buzz Lightyear theme. The Volcanic Clusters Sheriff Set comes with four products in total: Pore Clearing Clay Mask with Super Volcanic Clusters, Pore Clearing Color Mask – Brightening, Pore Clearing Color Mask – Cica and Matte Mineral Setting Powder. The set retails for an affordable $22.

When I first opened the packaging, I couldn’t help but grin. Please just look and appreciate these stickers with me! Who knew a sheet of stickers could bring mr this much joy and nostalgia. I loved stickers as a kid (and clearly still do). This fun addition to an adult-geared product makes me feel like I’m a child opening up a brand new toy. We all know that level of excitement. I can’t wait to find a fun way to utilize these stickers. There is no doubt about it that the tin and sticker set are definitely collectible for any Disney fanatic.

Once I removed the sticker set, I didn’t think it was possible for the packaging to get any cuter. The Woody theme continues on inside the tin. I appreciate how neatly the items are displayed inside the tin. This is great for storage purposes.

The first product I tried out was the Pore Clearing Clay Mask with Super Volcanic Clusters. The mask has a putty-like texture. It felt cool and soothing as I applied it to my face. The scent is clean, but not overpowering. The volcanic clusters add a nice aspect of exfoliation to this mask. According to innisfree’s website, the volcanic cluster spheres come from Jeju Island in South Korea. The island is covered with cooled and hardened lava fragments, referred to as volcanic clusters. Although these clusters are porous and packed with access oil absorbing minerals, innisfree took this a step further. The brand developed Jeju Volcanic Cluster Spheres™. These absorb double the amount of access oil and impurities. Overall, my face felt clean and my skin felt invigorated after using this mask.

The sheriff set included two additional clay masks. The green and yellow Pore Clearing Color Masks with volcanic clusters. I think it’s clever how the masks coloring is the same as shown on the packaging. I haven’t used these on my face yet, but I liked how the swatches spread and dried on my skin. The green mask features Centella Asiatica (Cica) derivatives, which per innisfree’s site, soothes irritated skin. Again, the volcanic clusters work to exfoliate and absorb access oil. The yellow mask is described to have brightening properties from the Vitamin C ingredients in the mask. This mask had more of a watery consistency, whereas the green mask was more putty-like. Both masks had a very faint, but clean scent.

The non-mask product of the sheriff set was the matte mineral setting powder. The packaging features a cartoon Woody graphic on the top. Again, the packaging is too cute to deal with. When you open up the powder, it appears to be similar in color to most translucent powders I’ve used in the past. The powder is marketed as creating a matte finish on the face. Thr ingredients include Jeju Mineral powder and Mint, which work to absorb oil.  The powder comes with an adorable powder puff. The scent is very subtle, but like the other products in the set, very clean. I did try this product, and the results can be seen in the picture below, under the Lip Balm section.

Lip Balm-Wedding Peach Tea (Jessie Cowgirl)

When browsing this collection, I was beyond excited to see they offered lip products. The collection offers three character lip balms: Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie. Since I already added products to my cart featuring Woody and Buzz Lightyear, I thought it would be fun to go with Jessie. Since Jessie is a cowgirl, the packaging featuring cow spots to match her pants. This may be one of my favorite packagings in the entire collection. The lip balms retail for $9.00 each, which allows customers to buy all three lip balms without breaking the bank.

This specific lip balm is in the flavor Wedding Peach Tea. I love iced tea, so this flavor intrigued me. As I opened the lip balm, I noticed the lovely peach scent. The scent is less subtle than the other products we’ve previously  mentioned. As I put it on, I always worry that the lip balm is going to have a weird taste if it accidentally gets in my mouth. However, I was shocked at how accurate the flavoring of this lip balm is. It seriously tasted like a sweetened peach iced tea.

The lip balm also has a pinkish, red color to it. Since it was noticeably sheer, I figured this product would add no color to my lips. Boy, was I wrong. This lip balm gave my lips an extremely gorgeous pink coloring. The picture below on the right, depicts me wearing the lip balm and the matte setting powder. You can observe how beautiful and matte my skin looks. As well as how pretty pink my lips are, while producing an awesome shine.

Hand Cream Set (Pizza Planet Aliens)

Ok, everyone who has seen Toy Story knows how iconic Pizza Planet is. It’s the home of alien toys and THE CLAW. As soon as I saw this set, I knew I had to get it. With all this insanely cute packaging, I don’t know how I’m ever going to throw it out after it’s all used up (I foresee a hoarding issue). This set retails for $14. The three lotion scents included are Guest House Laundry, Peach and Pink Coral.

Guest House Laundry smells as you would imagine. Fresh and clean, with hints of laundered linen. To compliment the wedding peach tea lip balm, I now have a peach hand cream. The peach scent is not overpowering, but has just enough sweetness to it. Pink coral was a scent I wasn’t sure what to expect. I would describe it as more of a tropical, but floral scent. The lotion is soothing and melts right into the skin. These are the perfect travel size for throwing in your bag whilst on the go.

Micellar Oil Water (Buzz Lightyear)

Who’s with me when I say I have a love-hate relationship with removing my makeup? Taking off makeup at the end of the day is such a cleansing experience, however, it can be a pain. If you don’t use the right makeup removing product, it might take you 20+ minutes of harshly scrubbing your face. Then your face is red and sensitive…not cute. Micellar Oil Water is a product I didn’t have much past experience with. So when I saw the Buzz Lightyear themed Micellar Oil Water, I was excited to give it a try. This item offers a generous amount of product at 200ml. It retails for $12, a deal when you considering how expensive quality makeup remover wipes are.

Per innisfree’s website, this product is a mild and pH-balanced formula that minimizes skin irritation while being tear-free. This cleansing water removes makeup, even if it’s waterproof. When I saw this claim, I knew I had to test it out.

In the left side picture below, you can see four makeup swatches. In order from top to bottom, I swatched: Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner, Waterproof Mascara, a smokey eyeshadow and a dark cranberry stay all say lip crayon. I grabbed one of my organic clean face pads, and saturated it with some Micellar Oil Water. The product has a fresh lemon scent. With only two swipes and gentle rubbing, my jaw was on the floor. All the swatches were gone (see picture below on the right). Even the waterproof swatches were nowhere to be found, and no residue was left behind. Plus, if you look at my skin, it isn’t red or irritated. I will definitely continue to incorporate this product into my nightly makeup removing routine.

2019 Hamm, Bank

To conclude this blog post, I figured I’d feature the item that may have excited me the most. When purchasing Toy Story Collection products on innisfree’s website, I noticed I had a free item in my cart. I went to investigate and may have squealed (pig pun) with joy. For spending over $50, I qualified for a 2019 Hamm, Bank. This promotion is representing 2019 as being the year of the pig. Having a pink piggy bank as a kid, I always loved Hamm. He is one of my absolute favorite Toy Story characters.

I was skeptical that being a freebie, this item would be cheap. However, the Hamm bank is very well made. The box alone is adorable. This is an item I’d expect to see at a toy store, maybe priced high even. Since it is a 2019 limited edition, and with Toy Story 4 coming soon to theaters. The bank looks exactly as Hamm does in the movies. It’s a legitimate piggy bank you could use to save up coins. If you rather not do that, the item comes with a plastic 2019 Golden Coin that you store in the bank’s slot (see picture on far right). Out of all the limited edition collectible products, I find this Hamm bank to be the most collectible.
